Familirization Tour

In this post, I will share about my third weeks in Philippines

After did observation, teaching assistant, Actual Teaching and Final Demonstration on previous day, finally now all of SEA-Teacher delegates can enjoy with our Familirization Tour. Yeayyyyyyyy!!!!

When I tried to tracking to the Top of Daroanak Island with Nida to look Beautiful view of this Island

It was so happy met with Filipino children who live on the coast, we were took pictures together and play along the Daroanak Beach.

At that time we felt so bored and we went to Camsur Watersports Complex, we find a peace and happiness here with buddies.

That moment when we Familirization tour with President Campus, Lectures, Teachers and Buddies at Sipocot Province. 
Exchange Culture In Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, we learn how to planting and learn to know how to make the best fertilizer. It was so fun 
Great experience for me visited Hoyop-Hoyopan Caves in Albay, There are a lot of Caves imitating animals, hands and others.
Visited a Mushroom Cultivation in Sipocot Province, I got knowledge and best experience here because we learn how to Cultivation Mushroom.

SUMMARY & SUGGESTION

Yahhhhhh actually it is so sad for me, SEA-Teacher Program by SEAMEO already finised a month, but I felt so grateful became a delegates of SEA-Teacher Project Batch 8 and I got lots experiences here, I will tell you some information here 

Purpose of Practicum 

The aims of this Practicum :
1. To provide oppurtunities for students to have practical teaching experiences in schools especially in this country
2. To improve my quality of education 
3. To build and strengthen student-teacher capacity

Procedure of Practicum

Me as a teacher must observe my classroom condition, I must know the characteristic of my students and choose the appropriate strategy in learning. After I know well about the situation, then me as teacher has to arrange the lesson plan based on the students need, choose the topic of the material and the curriculum that used.

Outcomes of Practicum

During the practicum, me as a student-teacher get lots of experiences related in teaching. I learnt a lot of how to created lesson plan which can used as a detail guide. I also can control my classroom condition, manage the time and get the attention from my students. The main outcome was, I know the best strategy to deliver the lesson to the students so the objectives of the learning can be reached.

Colleges of Practicum

The main challenge that I faced while teaching practice is when my students asked something used Bicol or Tagalog Language. My cooperating teacher sometimes mixed 2 languages when she teached. However, I have to created my own strategies to make my students understand about the material that I taught. I explained the material by using supporting media, body language and I already learned about basic of local language so it was makes me esier to teach. The other challenge is duration per each class. The duration time in Philippines school is shorter than in Indonesia. So, I must adjust the differences.

Overall Impression


Students were individuals who are undergoing a very rapid process of development. They lllhave own characteristic that different from the others. They are very active, dynamic, enthusiastic, and curious about what they see and hear.
All the students in Grade 8-SunFlower and 10-Dalton at San Jose Pili National High School also have own characteristic, but most of them have a high willingness and competitive spirit to learn English. My students also active, creative, and respect each other. They always followed what teacher asked. Me as a teacher needs to create fun activity and some games to help them more understand in learning the material.

Suggestion for Future Improvement

As Student-teacher have got a lots of things during 1 month in this amazing program. For this program, it will be better if the time of actual teaching must be extended. For SEA-Teacher Project, this program should make a lots relation to another countries in Southeast Asia and make a cooperate with the Best Universities in Southeast Asia.

I would like to Maraming Maraming Salamat Salahat for SEA-Teacher Program, SEAMEO, My Beloved Campus University of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara and my campus destination Central Bicol State University of Agreculture for this chance,  this experience became one of delegation from this Amazing Program.

Teaching Practice

Based on my the schedules that my cooperating teachers was gave me classes for actual teaching, I
handled 2 classes Grade 8-SunFlower and Grade 10-Dalton.

Procedures of Teaching

  • Warm-up

I always start my class to prayer first, I asked my students to close their eyes and pray together. Next,
I checked students attendance to make sure the students who attend the class or not.Then, I gave them
my Ice Breaking I called “HIPPO DANCE” to make my students dance and sing together. My students
very excited to dance and sing together. After they felt happy and relax, I continued to started learning
process, when I teached them with the topic about Strategies of Listening I played the video related to
the material to build the knowledge of the students about today’s
material.

  • Presentation

In presentation lesson, based on the topic about Strategies of Listening I give them the Power Point
presentation about the basic strategies of listening after that I showed them a video about the “Flash
Floods” to listening, I also told them to don’t forget to noted in your note book about the information
will you get after you watching this video because I have a task for them after they have watched that
video. My students listen carefully, they were focused to listening and they also used the strategies of

Listening that I have explain to them.
  • Practice

After explain the material, I gave them a quiz to check their understanding and knowledge of that topic.
I asked them about
Where?
When ?
Why this video news important ?
What should we do ?
Are you alarmed about the flash flood? Yes or No, Why?
Next, my students will answed those questions based on the Information they have got after listening
the media. They will ctitical thinking to aswer those questions and for my students who can answered
the questions correctly will get points and rewards that I already prepared. It will encourage them to
answer the questions.
  • Productivity

In today's last lesson, I let them did language products. I asked them to say a few words or
sentences that they noted earlier while listening to the media based on American accent that was
delivered by the native speaker on the media.

To evaluation about listening, Students should often to listening news in television or social media.
Especially the important news for their life.

Problem-Solving


Time flies so fast, after actual teaching for 2 weeks, I found some problems whether came from the
student and came from my self as a student-teacher. The several problems and the solutions while the
actual teaching.
Problem : My students did not understad when I explain the lesson and talked too fast
Solve : I should to speak slowly and should repeat about the lesson until they understand
Problem : My students did not understand thet were too long explanation and complicated
Solve : I gave them the simple and clear instructions, I also gave the examples to their understand
clearly.
